My sweet adrenaline

Give me the wheel, so we can move a little faster.
I’ll make it real, I’m not a glorious disaster.
What part of living says you gotta die?
I plan on burning through another night lost.
One more for measure, that’s ten for the soul.
That never sleeps so are you ready to go?

“Get to Nar Shaddaa now, Seeker Estherian.” The voice over the comm was clipped and harsh.

“I’m already there, what is it?” Her own voice was soft, aware that several heads had turned when the voice had snarled over her open comm. She’d slapped her hand over it and brought it to her ear.

“Another Seeker, Berryl. She found Soshunn or Lord Shoshunn as he calls himself now. She’s requesting aid, you’re it and I know you’re ready for it.” Sharisses voice growled cutting off a word of protest, a long pause. “Get down to the fifty ninth district now! I’m sending coords!”

The comm clicked off and Caer was off.

Her feet pounded the permacrete  as her arms pumped to help her with speed.

Why is it always Nar Shaddaa, she wondered to herself even as she shoved a hapless man out of her way, to which she received a colorful commentary about her proclivities and her questionable gender preferences peppered across her retreating form. People moved out of her way, rapidly the white clad form a blur as she darted around piles of garbage, leaping over rails like some space age parkour performer.

She sensed the distress of her fellow Seeker, even as the air burned her lungs and the smell of the planet burned her nose. Her legs tingled with the sensation of hitting the ground so hard, her ankle protesting the abuse. Raiyden would have had her hide if he saw her running like that much less leaping over railings that could potentially lead to a thousand meter drop into nowhere.  But she trusted in the force and as she leaped over another railing she surprised the ever loving hell out of a man as she plopped into the seat of his open speeder.

“WHAT IN THE HELL!?” He screamed like a woman and it took Caer a moment to realize the man was actually a man.

“Sorry sir! Need your speeder!” She shoved him out of the speeder and onto the loading platform in front of his stunned family. “Order business!”

Nevermind which Order…man Shans gonna have my skull for a cup… I can see Arten and her frowning at me now. Caer punched the speeder pedal as the family protested the theft of their vehicle. Well at least Sharise will say it was common sense and likely find it funny, after she dresses me down in front of the Sene council for abusing a private citizen… ah well. Only live once, I suppose. Maybe twice if they get the defibs to you in time.

Punching the steering yolk she guided it downward from the 140th district and nearly straight down heading toward the lower districts. She finally evened out once she hit the district 60 knowing she’d have to go down one in order to get to where she needed to be. Abandoning the speeder she knew it’d be stripped and on the black market the second she left it. Oh well.

Bloodshot against the clear blue sky.
Tick tock I think the well is running dry.
My my, I can’t lie.
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline.
Dead scared cause am fearless in the head.
Bang bang cause the needle’s in the red.
My my, I can’t lie.
I need a shot again, that sweet adrenaline.
My my!
My sweet  adrenaline.

The Miraluka could sense the darkside all around her as she came up to the empty street. In the distance she heard the sound of blades clashing and shouting, the distinct of fried ozone that came only with a storm or Sith lightning. Her heart pounded in her chest, the adrenaline roaring through her as she caught the sounds and smells of combat. She gripped her twin blades and licked her lips as she took off at a cautious jog towards the sound.

Seeker Berryl, she was fairly young and just graduated. Caer recalled from her previous talk with Sharise. The girl had been at the top of her class and one of the most zealous and liveliest Seekers that had been in the group. The go get ’em sort of girl who had a zest for life that nearly overshadowed her desire to be a Luka Sene Seeker. Despite the fact the girl had more skill as a healer, she’d insisted on being trained as a combatant, opting not to become a teacher. She’d done well and so her training had continued.

Soshunn. Big hulking guy who had been half something something and half Miraluka. Had all the Miraluka traits, none of he genetic defects save for the fact he was the size of a Bantha on roids. Caer snorted in derision. All brawn, some brains and a lust for combat that even made Sharise blink and for a Miraluka that’s a feat.

She rounded the corner to see the giant of a Miraluka crushing the womans head in his hand, the meaty fist enveloping the slender womans skull, hearing a sick crunching sound as bones crunched, the body jerking in pain shock.

“Stand down now Soshunn! NOW!” Caer snarled and brought up her saber, calling on the force to amplify her presence.

“That’s LORD Soshunn.” The man turned and dropped the woman, rolling his shoulders making his neck pop audibly. He had several sword cuts across his chest and bicep.

Ashlas tits, that guys arm is as big as my ship. Caer stepped up a pace and spun her saber. “You have one chance to step down and come along peacefully or I will be forced to take you down through any means necessary as granted to me by the Luka Sene Council, and Lord Soshunn? Really? Do you have any idea how stupid that sounds?”

He didn’t wait for her to bait him anymore, the walking meat wall roared and lifted up a chunk of fallen wall and hurled it at her. Caer silently thanked Raiyden for all those training sessions where he hurled rocks at her head. She deftly ducked them and took his roar as a ‘no I will not come with you’ and began an attack of her own.

Crack in the vision, who said the motivation’s all wrong?
Not your decision, the detonation of a time bomb.
Which way is up, when your high is low?
It’s time to find it are you ready to go?
Bloodshot against the clear blue sky.
Tick tock I think the well is running dry.

Soshunn had no saber which surprised Caer, but he did carry with him one massive blade. Her confidence wavered as flash backs of Kosruk flashed across her internal vision. Snarling to herself, Caer shoved the memory away roughly and hacked and slashed at her with brute force. Caer brought up each blade and deflected each blow each swing causing their blades to scream at one another with a high pitched whistling noise. Her lips pursed into thin white lines as he came in over hand and she was forced to her knees, her blades coming up in an x pattern over her head. She concentrated with the force and aimed a push for his legs. He deftly avoided it and aimed a meaty fist for the side of her head.

KATHWHUD. Stars burst across her force sight as she went tumbling across the ground and she shook her head back and forth as the sound left her ears for a few seconds.  She could taste blood on her tongue as she felt it pool in her mouth.

Something in the force urged her to move and it was none too soon as she rolled to the side, still gripping her blades that a meaty building sized foot came down where she’d been just a few seconds ago. That was close, and ow. Ow. Ow oh my face.

Soshunns foot came down with the force of a small planet exploding and as Caer got to her feet, she saw her opening. Summoning her left blade she hurled it like a spear towards his neck. The weapon screamed as it did so and with the sound of a blade hitting meat, it lodged into the side of his neck.

Caer watched as Soshunn turned and snarled at her, blood burbling on his lips , his sneer turning into one of pain as the hulking brute took two or three lumbering steps towards her, lightning crackling on his fingertips. It shot harmlessly across the ground as his fingers and concentration went slack, first his arms dropping and then he sagged to his knees. Finally he toppled over and onto his face.

The woman panted and held the side of her face, her expression impassive and unreadable. She licked blood off her own lips and then spat. “Yeah, didn’t think you’d come with me. May the Gods have more mercy on you than I did.”

Turning she wearily turned towards the fallen woman and crouched. A pulse but it was faint. Digging out her comm, she tapped it on and patched into her ship and rerouted to another Jedi who was there on another mission. Quickly giving her coordinates she sought aid and from there another Seeker who was a healer could help her. Thankfully the Jedi was willing to help.

My my!

My my just cant lie,

My my just cant lie,
its the love of the chase that created the ride!

Some hours and a shower plus a medical droid trip later, she stood on one of the balconies of Nar Shaddaa over looking the cities landscape. Another Seeker had taken Soshunn home, or rather had assisted in taking his body and was heading home at the first opportunity.  She felt wired and jittery, and knew she was coming down off that natural high. Rolling her shoulders she headed off towards her crew. She’d pray for the lost soul later when she was alone and could properly mourn the loss of one of their own, not that she’d ever let anyone see that. Not even her brother or Tom.
